Leicester City have reportedly launched an offer for France youth international forward M’Baye Niang, according to Sky Sport Italia (via Calciomercato).

The surprise Premier League leaders, who convincingly defeated Stoke City 3-0 last weekend, are interested in signing the AC Milan striker before the close of the January transfer window on Monday night.

The 21-year-old, who is a France Under-21 international, has scored five goals in 14 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A giants this season.

The report suggests the Foxes offered an initial £12.2m for Niang’s services this month, with manager Claudio Ranieri keen on recruiting some offensive cover for top goalscorer Jamie Vardy.
