Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers ‘doesn’t know what the Conference League is’, when speaking post match in the Europa League. 

The quotes from the Foxes boss were almost as surprising as last night’s result as the club dropped out of the Europa League and into the inaugural UEFA Conference League.

Leicester found themselves in a tough group with Serie A high-flyers Napoli, Spartak Moscow and Leiga Warsaw all of which proved tough tests.

Rodgers clearly didn’t plan on leaving the competition though and provided some surprising post-match quotes:

He said: “I’ve got to be honest, I don’t even know what the competition is.

“In all fairness, I was focused on the Europa League and winning this group, or at the very least finishing second, so with all due respect to the competition, I’m not sure what it is. But I’m sure I will find out soon enough.”

The Foxes will know all about the competition soon enough as they will be playing in the Conference League in 2022.
