Leicester City are reportedly ready to seal a club-record deal to land Algeria international striker Islam Slimani this summer, according to A Bola (via the Metro).

The Premier League champions, who face former winners Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on the final day of the 2015/16 season on Sunday afternoon, want the Sporting Lisbon forward to boost the Foxes ahead of their UEFA Champions League campaign next term.

The 27-year-old, who has 43 international caps for his country, has scored a remarkable 30 goals and provided five further assists in 45 appearances in all competitions for the Liga NOS outfit this season.

Slimani, who reportedly has a £23m release clause in his current deal at the Estadio Jose Alvalade, has also been attracting interest from Premier League rivals Tottenham.

However the reports suggest that Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri is ready to trigger the Algerian ace’s buy-out figure to smash their own transfer record in a bid to beat Spurs to his signature.
