Leicester City are reportedly ready to hijack Swansea City’s move for Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle, according to the Daily Mail.

The 25-year-old attacker is set to leave the Eagles before the transfer window closes on Monday night, after being pushed further down the pecking order at Selhurst Park following the arrival of Emmanuel Adebayor last week.

The Swans looked to be the frontrunners for the forward’s signature, but now Claudio Ranieri is set to make a late £7 million bid to land the front man.

The manager of the Premier League leaders is keen to provide more support to top scorer Jamie Vardy, but has been frustrated in his attempts with one of his top targets, Eder, choosing to join Inter Milan instead.
