Leicester City are targeting a January swoop for Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne, according to The Sun.

The 27-year-old has been through injury hell the the past year, missing most of last season with a back problem.

In that time he’s been replaced by the impressive Trent Alexander-Arnold as the Reds’ first-choice in that position.

Now, having returned to full fitness – playing the full 90 minutes in the League Cup defeat to Chelsea last month – the Foxes hope to offer the Londoner regular action.

With midfielder Daniel Amartey currently filling in at right-back, King Power chief Claude Puel sees Clyne as the perfect January addition.

However, despite his lack of action, the Merseyside outfit still want more than the £12.5 million they paid Southampton for the 14-time England international in 2015.

Clyne, whose contract expires in 2020, has made 99 appearances and scored two goals for Liverpool.
