Everton face competition from Leicester City for the signing of Gylfi Sigurdsson.

According to a report in the Daily Mail the Swansea striker is being viewed as a replacement for want away Riyad Mahrez although there could be a complication with Everton interested in Jamie Vardy.

Sigurdsson is in no rush to quit Swansea but with offers of £25m on the table the Welsh side could be ready to do a deal.

Leicester are preparing for a rebuilding job as the excitement of their title win and run to the last eight of the Champions League begins to fade.

The club’s wealthy owners want to build from a position of relative strength with the arrival of Sigurdsson an attempt to show that they can bring in the top players in the Premier League outside of the top half dozen clubs.

Everton pulled out of talks to sign the Icelandic internationalist when wages of £120,000/week were mentioned but may have to reconsider if Ronald Koeman is to bring in the quality of player that he requires.
