Leicester stamp £50 million price-tag on Arsenal target Riyad Mahrez

Premier League giants Arsenal will have to pay £50 million to prize Riyad Mahrez away from former league champions Leicester this summer, according to The Daily Express.

The 26-year-old was a key part of the Foxes side that won the title back in 2015/16, scoring 17 goals and laying on 11 assists to help Claudio Ranieri’s men finish ten points clear of their nearest challengers, who were incidentally Arsenal.

However, the Algeria international, like many in the Leicester blue, saw his level drastically dip this term, managing just six Premier League goals in 36 league appearances for Craig Shakespeare’s side, yet he has confirmed in recent times that he would like a move away from the King Power Stadium this summer.

Yet the Foxes will not let him go without a fight and have reportedly slapped a £50 million price-tag on Mahrez, which will surely be of interest to the likes of Arsenal, Monaco, and Paris Saint-Germain, all of whom have recently been linked with the 26-year-old.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been rewarded with a new two-year deal to stay on as Arsenal manager, and will reportedly get a sizable transfer kitty to try and take the club back into the Champions League, as well to sustain a Premier League title challenge next season.

The North London outfit were linked with a move for Mahrez last summer before he signed a new contract at Leicester, yet with the futures of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil uncertain, Wenger knows that he may need attacking reinforcements this summer to keep his side competitive near the top.

And now he knows how much it’ll cost to bring Mahrez to the capital, the Arsenal boss may well consider a move for the winger this summer.
