Liverpool travel to face newly-promoted Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Saturday afternoon.

It has been a summer of huge change at Anfield, with Arne Slot replacing Jurgen Klopp after the German ended his nine-year stint on Merseyside.

While there will be a new face in the dugout at Anfield this season, Liverpool are the only Premier League side that are so far yet to make a single signing during the current transfer window.

The Reds have been linked with moves for a number of players including Anthony Gordon and Martin Zubimendi, but they haven’t yet got a deal over the line.

Now, though, it appears that could soon change.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have agreed personal terms with Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Mamardashvili was one of the stars of Euro 2024

The Georgian ‘keeper impressed for his country at the European Championships in Germany earlier this summer, helping them reach the last 16 of the competition.

Romano claims that the Georgian has agreed personal terms with the club, knowing that he will likely spend the next season or two out on loan to build experience.

Current Reds ‘keeper Alisson will remain the club’s first choice, but the journalist suggests that Liverpool’s plan would be for Mamardashvili to then replace the Brazilian.

Mamardashvili himself is said to be keen on the idea of a move to Anfield, while fellow Premier League side Bournemouth are said to be open to signing him on loan for the upcoming season.

Despite the Reds having reached an agreement with the 23-year-old, Romano claims that the two clubs are yet to reach an agreement over a deal for the player.

Mamardashvili joined Valencia on loan from Dinamo Tbilisi in 2021 before making the move permanent the following year.

In total he has played 100 times for the Spanish side across all competitions, keeping a total of 31 clean sheets.
