The January transfer window slammed shut on Monday, bringing to an end Premier League clubs’ opportunity to bolster their squads.

A number of top flight sides were active during the mid-season window, including Tottenham Hotspur who signed forward Mathys Tel on loan from Bayern Munich late on deadline day.

The Lilywhites had previously signed goalkeeper Antonin Kinsey and defender Kevin Danso from Salvia Prague and Lens respectively, although they did also miss out on a number of defensive targets.

One player that was linked with a move to Spurs as they searched for defensive reinforcements was Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi, but the North London side had their bid for the Englishman rejected.

Now, it appears that they may soon face fierce competition in the race for the England defender.

According to Football Insider, both Arsenal and Liverpool are likely to join the race for Guehi when the transfer window reopens this summer.

Guehi is set to be the subject of significant interest this summer

Guehi, 24, joined the Eagles from Chelsea in 2021 and has since established himself as a key player at Selhurst Park.

The defender has played 139 times for Palace across all competitions, and was the subject of significant interest from Newcastle United last year when the Magpies had a number of offers for the player rejected.

While Spurs had a £70 million offer for the defender rejected during the recent window, the report suggests that Guehi’s price tag is likely to be reduced this summer as the player will enter into the final 12 months of his current contract.

The report claims that the traditional ‘big six’ are all considering moves for the Englishman this summer, while Newcastle also remain interested and could reignite their pursuit of the player at the end of the season.

Guehi will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January 2026, and Palace are said to be adamant that they will not allow the player to enter into the final 12 months of his contract as they do not want to miss out on a large transfer fee.
