Manchester City will be hoping to close the gap to Premier League leaders Arsenal when they host Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.

The Foxes, who sacked manager Brendan Rodgers last week and replaced him with Dean Smith, have been in dismal form of late and currently sit dangerously close to the foot of the table.

City, meanwhile, closed the gap between themselves and The Gunners last week with a 4-1 win over struggling Southampton.

Arsenal’s advantage is now six points, although the reigning champions do have a game-in-hand and also face Mikel Arteta’s side later this month.

In the meantime, it appears that City are chasing a talented Chelsea youngster.

As per The Evening Standard, both City and rivals Liverpool are keeping tabs on Chelsea defender Levi Colwill, who is currently on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion.

The centre-back, who won’t be available when The Seagulls travel to Stamford Bridge on Saturday, has been in fine form this season.

Colwill is attracting interest from some of England’s biggest clubs

He has made ten Premier League appearances so far this season, playing a key role for Roberto De Zerbi’s side in the last few months.

The 20-year-old is a product of The Blues’ academy and has previously spent time on loan at Huddersfield Town before joining Brighton last summer.

The report claims that both City and Liverpool are hoping Colwill will be made available for sale this summer as Chelsea look to reduce their squad size.

Chelsea must also ensure they adhere to Financial Fair Play restrictions, and could therefore be forced to sell a number of their homegrown talents.

Colwill, who has been tipped for an England call up in the coming months, is currently contracted to Chelsea until 2025.

The west London outfit remain reluctant to let Colwill leave, though, and will hold talks with the defender in the coming weeks and months with a view to agreeing an extension to his current deal.
