Liverpool and Leicester City are reportedly interested in signing highly-rated winger Sam McQueen ahead of the forthcoming transfer window, according to The Sun.

The Premier League duo, who currently sit third and 11th in the English top-flight standings respectively after their opening 10 league fixtures, have both been impressed by the Southampton youngster’s performances so far this term.

McQueen made his first Saints appearance off the bench in the FA Cup two years ago.

The 21-year-old, who enjoyed a loan spell at League One outfit Southend United earlier this year, has scored one goal and provided one assist in six appearances in all competitions for the Saints so far this season.

McQueen, who has been with the south coast side since he was eight-years-old, has flourished in Claude Puel’s first-team squad since filling in for the injured duo of Ryan Bertrand and Matthew Targett at left-back, despite predominantly being a winger.

But with just 18 months remaining on his current deal at Southampton, defending Premier League champions Leicester fancy McQueen as a long-term replacement for Christian Fuchs, whilst Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is still on the look out for a new full-back, having been unconvinced by Alberto Moreno’s services.
