Liverpool restored their four point lead at the top of the Premier League table with a 4- win over struggling Luton Town on Wednesday night.

The visitors took a shock lead at Anfield when Chiedozie Ogbene headed the Hatters in front, but Jurgen Klopp’s side ran riot in the second half to earn a crucial victory.

Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz and Harvey Elliott all scored after the break to give the Reds a huge win and restore their four point cushion over second placed Arsenal.

Klopp will be desperate to lift a second Premier League title in his final season with Liverpool, with the German set to depart Anfield this summer.

Despite his impending departure, it appears that Liverpool are already identifying potential transfer targets for the upcoming summer window.

As per Calciomercato via TEAMtalk, both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race to sign Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners.

Koopmeiners has been tipped for a move to the Premier League this summer

Fellow Italian giants Juventus are said to have shown an interest in the Dutchman, but the report claims that both the Reds and Spurs are ‘in the front row’ in the race to land the player.

Koopmeiners, 25, joined Atalanta from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in 2021 and has since established himself as a regular for the Serie A side.

In total he has made more than 100 appearances for his current side across all competitions, but his impressive performances have attracted interest from elsewhere and it is suggested that Atalanta may choose to cash in on the player this summer.

Despite Juventus’ interest, it is claimed that the only way that The Old Lady could afford to sign Koopmeiners would be to include winger Matias Soule as part of a player-plus-cash deal.

Spurs and Liverpool, though, will not struggle to afford a move for the Netherlands international and are therefore frontrunners to land him this summer.
