Liverpool will look to maintain their lead at the top of the Premier League table when they travel to face Southampton on Sunday.

Arne Slot’s side have enjoyed a superb start to the campaign, winning nine of their 11 matches to sit five points clear at the top.

Reigning champions Manchester City and title chasing Arsenal will be hoping to tale advantage of any potential slip ups by the Reds, but Slot will be confident that his side can pick up all three points against Saints on Sunday.

In the meantime, it appears that Liverpool are eyeing a move for a Premier League defender.

According to CaughtOffside, both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Fulham centre-back Joachim Andersen.

The report claims that the two clubs are both on the hunt for defensive reinforcements, and 28-year-old Andersen has emerged as a potential target for both the Reds and the Lilywhites.

Andersen is attracting interest from both Liverpool and Tottenham

Andersen only joined the Cottagers over the summer, joining from London rivals Crystal Palace.

He had played more than 100 times for the Eagles, and has made an impressive start to his career at Craven Cottage.

Italian giants Juventus are also said to be monitoring the Denmark international, who is under contract with Fulham until the end of the 2028/29 season after penning a long-term deal with the West London side when he joined earlier this year.

Liverpool’s hunt for a new central defender comes amid ongoing uncertainty over the future of captain Virgil van Dijk, who is currently in the final year of his contract with the Reds.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have conceded 13 goals so far this season and manager Ange Postecoglou is therefore looking to bolster his backline.

While both clubs have identified Andersen as a potential target, the report claims that neither side have yet decided to make a move for the Dane.
