Liverpool will be hoping to return to winning ways when they welcome Premier League leaders Arsenal to Anfield on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have lost three and drawn one of their last four games across all competitions in the wake of a shock 7-0 win over rivals Manchester United.

Last time out, the German made several changes to his side as they faced Chelsea, and the two sides played out a rather dull 0-0 draw on Tuesday evening.

The Reds look likely to bolster their squad this summer, and it appears that they have now registered their interest in a Premier League midfielder.

According to 90min, both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have registered their interest in Leicester City midfielder James Maddison.

The 26-year-old, who made his full England debut last month, has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League in recent seasons, and has continuously been linked with a move away from The King Power Stadium.

Until now he has remained with The Foxes, but it appears increasingly likely that he will leave the club when the transfer window opens this summer.

The report claims that both Spurs and Liverpool have notified the player’s representatives that they are interested in signing him this summer.

Maddison is said to be a target for both Liverpool and Spurs

Having joined Leicester from Norwich City in 2018, Maddison has scored 54 goals in 195 matches for his current side across all competitions, as well as registering 38 assists.

The midfielder has been particularly impressive this season, netting nine times and registering six assists.

His form during the first half of the season earned him a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the World Cup in Qatar towards the end of last year, but Maddison didn’t feature after suffering an injury.

Liverpool are set to be in the market for at least one midfielder with at least two of their current crop, namely Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, set to depart when their contracts expire at the end of the season.

Leicester City are said to be resigned to the fact that Maddison will depart the club as he has already rejected a number of contract extension offers.

The Foxes would reportedly accept a fee in the region of £50 million for the Englishman this summer, although they could face losing him for free next summer if a deal isn’t agreed.
