Liverpool are reportedly bidding to beat fellow English top-flight rivals Tottenham to the summer signing of Spain international Ignacio Camacho, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Premier League side, who currently sit ninth in the standings respectively after drawing 1-1 with the title contenders at Anfield on Sunday, are set to go head-to-head with Spurs in their attempts to lure the Malaga star to their club once the 2015-16 campaign has concluded.

The 25-year-old; who has one international cap to his name, where he made his debut against Germany back in November 2014, has scored two goals in 17 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga outfit so far this season.

Camacho, who reportedly has a £10m buy-out clause with the Spanish side, is desperately trying to be tempted into staying at Malaga past this summer as the club attempt to fend off the midfielder’s potential suitors.

However the report suggests that Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have stepped up their pursuit of the defensive midfielder in a bid to beat Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham to his signature.
