Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is happy to let out-of-favour striker Daniel Sturridge leave the club in January, and Premier League rivals Southampton are lining up an audacious approach, according to reports from The Express.
The Saints are supposedly keen to take the England international on loan in January, with a view to making the deal permanent in the summer for a fee of £25m.
The former Chelsea and Man City man has struggled this season, having to watch the Reds’ successful start to the campaign from the sidelines with Klopp preferring Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino in the central role.
The England international, who is yet to score in the Premier League this season, was a shining light in the Brendan Rodgers side which got so close to the title in 2014 as he lined up alongside the now Barcelona star, Luis Suarez.
The Saints have struggled somewhat for goals this season in the wake of the departures of Saido Mane and Graziano Pelle to Liverpool and China respectively.
