Georgia will look to continue their fairytale European Championship debut by beating Spain in the last 16 on Sunday.

Willy Sagnol’s team beat Portugal in their final group game to finish third in Group E and qualify as one of the best third-placed teams.

That result set up a last 16 tie against Spain, who will go into the game as favourites to progress to the quarter-finals.

In the meantime, it appears that one member of the Georgia squad has attracted interest from a Premier League side.

According to Spanish outlet Marca via The Express, Liverpool are keeping tabs on goalkeeper Georgi Mamardashvili.

The report claims that the Reds are likely to be in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer, with current second choice ‘keeper Caoimhin Kelleher looking likely to depart Anfield.

With that in mind, Liverpool are considering a move for Mamardashvili, who has been in sensational form for Georgia at the tournament so far this summer.

The 23-year-old has played in each of Georgia’s three games at the tournament so far, and produced a fine display to keep a clean sheet during the 2-0 win over Portugal which secured their progression into the knockout stages.

The Georgia international is contracted to current club Valencia until the end of the 2026/27 season, but the Merseyside outfit could look to lure him away from Spain this summer.

Since joining Valencia in 2021, initially on loan before signing permanently a year later, the goalkeeper has played exactly 100 times for the Spanish side across all competitions, keeping 31 clean sheets.
