Liverpool close in on deal for Championship star that benefits both sides

Liverpool are closing in on a second January singing, with a Championship star set to join the Premier League side on deadline day. 

The Reds announced the signing of highly-rated attacker Luis Diaz from Porto on Sunday, but are now looking closer to home for their second acquisition.

Fulham starlet Fabio Carvalho has taken the Championship by storm this season, and his performances have attracted interest from a number of top flight clubs including the Reds.

The 19-year-old has scored eight goals and provided four assists for the Cottagers so far this term, but it appears that Liverpool are now closing in on the teenager.

As per Football 365, the two clubs are close to agreeing a deal that will see the teenage sensation return to West London for the remainder of the season.

Carvalho has been one of the most impressive young talents in England this season

A fee of around £5 million has reportedly been agreed between the two clubs, and Fulham will benefit from having the player until the season ends.

Cottagers boss Marco Silva discussed the attacking midfielder’s future in the build up to their game against Blackpool on Saturday, insisting that the player would remain in London.

“Fabio will be with us until the end of the season,” he said.

“I would like to see him here for more years.

“It is not a surprise that clubs are interested in Fabio. We are talking about a young player with big talent.”

Carvalho’s current contract with Fulham is set to expire at the end of this season, which explains why they have chosen to cash in on him this month, rather than losing him for free in June.
