Liverpool are reportedly closing in on the double signing of Germany internationals Mario Gotze and Jonas Hector this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Premier League side, who currently sit ninth in the English top-flight standings following their most recent 3-2 league defeat to Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium, have been linked with future moves for the FC Bayern Munich and Cologne stars.

Central midfielder Gotze; 23, who has 49 international caps for the reigning world champions and scored the winning goal for Germany in the 2014 World Cup final, has scored four goals in just 12 appearances for defending Bundesliga champions Bayern so far this season.

Meanwhile left-back Hector; 25, who has 11 international caps to his name and featured against England on Saturday night in Berlin, has provided three assists in 28 games in all competitions for German rivals Cologne so far this season.

The report suggests that Bayern will want to recoup some of the £30m they spent on Gotze back in July 2013 from Borussia Dortmund, whilst defender Hector is expected to cost around £12m.
