Liverpool return to action on Saturday when they welcome struggling Burnley to Anfield.

The Reds currently sit top of the Premier League table, but could be leapfrogged by reigning champions Manchester City if the Citizens defeat Everton in the early kick-off.

Regardless of City’s result, Jurgen Klopp’s side can ensure they sit top by the end of the weekend by beating the Clarets at Anfield.

The German will be desperate to lift a second Premier League title this term, having announced last month that he will depart Anfield at the end of the current campaign.

Despite Klopp’s impending departure, it appears that Liverpool are confident that three key players will sign new contracts.

As reported by Football Insider, the Merseyside club are hoping that Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Mohamed Salah will all sign contract extensions.

The trio are all key players for Klopp’s side, but have all been the subject of rumours linking them with a move away following the German’s announcement last month.

Van Dijk is set to be out of contract next summer

All three players are also set to be out of contract next summer, meaning that they would be able to sign pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs form January onwards.

Last summer, forward Salah was the focus of a £150 million bid from Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad, and it has been suggested that the Pro League side will return this summer with a new offer.

The Egypt international has scored more than 200 goals for the Reds since joining from AS Roma in 2017.

Van Dijk, meanwhile, remains a crucial part of Klopp’s side and captains the Reds, but the Dutchman has also been the subject of rumours linking him with a move away from Liverpool.

Full-back Alexander-Arnold, 25, has established himself as one of the best in the world in his position over the past few seasons, and is a fan favourite among the club’s supporters.
