Liverpool will be looking for a third consecutive victory when they travel to London to face West Ham United on Wednesday.

The Reds, who had previously gone five games without a win, have now managed back-to-back victories over Leeds United and Nottingham Forest.

Next up for Jurgen Klopp’s side is a game against a Hammers side that have improved recently, though, beating Bournemouth 4-0 in their last game.

In the meantime, it appears that the Merseyside outfit are confident of signing one of their top targets this summer.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are confident that they are leading Arsenal in the race to sign Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.

The England international’s contract with The Blues is set to expire next summer and he has been heavily linked with a move away from the club at the end of this season.

Talks between Chelsea and the player’s representatives have so far failed to progress, and Liverpool have therefore began circling in a bid to lure the midfielder away from the capital.

Mount is a target for both Liverpool and Arsenal

Mount, 24, made his Chelsea debut in 2019 and has now played 195 times for the club, scoring 33 goals and providing 37 assists across all competitions.

This season, the former Derby County loanee has made 35 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing six assists.

Both Newcastle United and Manchester United are also said to be monitoring the Englishman’s current situation.

Liverpool look likely to lose at least two midfielders this summer and will therefore be in the market for replacements when the transfer window opens.

Both Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita are set to be out of contract, and there has been no indication that either player will remain at Anfield beyond this summer.

The report also claims that The Reds could look to sign as many as three first-team midfielders this season, as they look to bounce back next term from what has already been a disappointing campaign this season.
