Premier League leaders Liverpool travel to the south coast to face Southampton on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds have enjoyed a flying start to the season under new head coach Arne Slot, winning nine of their 11 league games so far to open up a five point lead over reigning champions Manchester City in second.

Despite their strong start to the campaign, it appears that Liverpool are still on the lookout for potential transfer targets.

With that in mind, it appears that the Merseyside outfit are one of a number of clubs monitoring a Scottish teenage sensation.

As per Football Insider, Liverpool could beat Scottish champions Celtic to the signing of Motherwell midfielder Lennon Miller.

It is claimed that the Reds are hoping to land the 18-year-old next summer, although they will face stiff competition for the player’s signature.

Slot could look to bolster his squad next summer

Miller has been in fine form for Motherwell this term, scoring four times and providing three assists in 18 appearances across all competitions.

The report claims that Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Aston Villa all had scouts in attendance to watch Scotland Under-21s face France during the international break, with all five Premier League clubs watching Miller in particular.

The teenager will soon enter into the final 18 months of his current contract at Fir Park, and Motherwell could therefore look to cash in on the player next summer.

Miller’s versatility could appeal to Premier League sides, with the youngster able to play as a defensive or attacking midfielder, as well as being deployed centrally.

The report suggests that Premier League clubs could be at an advantage in the race for Miller, as they can offer more lucrative contracts than the likes of Celtic.
