Liverpool will be hoping to secure a third consecutive victory when they travel to London to face West Ham United on Wednesday.

The Reds had gone five matches without a victory before cruising to a 6-1 win over Leeds United on Monday evening, and they then followed that up by beating Nottingham Forest 3-2 on Saturday.

On Wednesday they will face a Hammers side that moved a step closer to Premier League safety with a convincing 4-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.

In the meantime, it appears that Liverpool have cooled their interest in a player that was one of their top targets for this summer.

As per Football Insider, The Reds have been deterred from moving for RB Leipzig centre-back Josko Gvardiol as the German side are demanding up to £80 million for the player.

Gvardiol, 21, has been in sensational form over the past 18 months and is said to have attracted interest from a number of clubs across Europe.

Gvardiol is expected to cost around £80 million if he were to leave Leipzig this summer

Liverpool had considered a move for the Croatia international as they look to bolster their defence ahead of next term, but the Merseyside outfit have now cooled their interest.

Gvardiol joined Leipzig from Dinamo Zagreb in 2021 and has since made more than 80 appearances for the German side.

He also impressed at the World Cup in Qatar last year, scoring as Croatia defeated Morocco in the third place play-off.

As well as Liverpool, fellow Premier League clubs Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have also shown interest in Gvardiol, although the latter are also said to be wary of the potential cost of a deal.

Liverpool will now look elsewhere in search of defensive reinforcements, as well as searching for at least one new central midfielder when the transfer window reopens this summer.
