Liverpool could be boosted by the return of Diogo Jota when they face rivals Everton in the Merseyside derby on Monday.

The Portugal international has been out with a calf injury since October, but he returned to training this week and is in contention to be involved against The Toffees.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have been in poor form over the past few months, winning just four of their last ten Premier League games.

The Reds now sit in tenth place in the table, ten points away from the Champions League qualification places.

Despite their dismal run of form, it appears that Liverpool could be prepared to sell one of their most important players this summer.

As per Football Insider, The Reds are considering selling forward Mohamed Salah during the upcoming summer transfer window.

It is claimed that internal talks have been held at the club, discussing the possibility of selling the Egypt international in order to fund a squad overhaul at the end of the season.

Salah, 30, has been sensational for Liverpool since joining the club from Roma back in 2017, but it is claimed that he is now being considered for sale.

During his first season with the club, Salah scored a remarkable 44 goals in 52 games across all competitions, breaking the record for the most goals in a single 38-game Premier League campaign with 32.

Salah has struggled in front of goal this season

The Egyptian has scored 173 goals and provided 70 assists in 285 games for the club, playing pivotal roles as they won the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League title the following season.

The club’s owners have been reluctant to spend big without first selling players, though, and the report claims that Salah is one of the players that has been suggested as they look to generate funds.

Salah is regarded by those in charge of the club as one of a select group who could command a figure upwards of £50 million.

Last summer, Sadio Mane departed Anfield which allowed Darwin Nunez to be purchased, but the club are now considering allowing another big-name player to depart in order to allow for an overhaul to kickstart a new era at the club.

Salah was rewarded with a new £400,000-per-year deal last year, but has struggled for form this term.

The ex-Chelsea man has scored just seven goals in 20 Premier League matches, and has failed to find the net in any of his last five games in the competition.
