World Cup winner Kevin Grosskreutz is reportedly set to become Liverpool’s first January signing.

The Galatasaray midfielder would also become new Reds boss Jurgen Klopp’s first addition since taking charge of the Anfield outfit back in October, with his side currently eighth in the Premier League after Sunday’s shocking 2-0 defeat at Newcastle United.

The 27-year-old, who lifted the FIFA World Cup with Germany in Brazil last year, only sealed a move to the Turkish giants this summer from Borussia Dortmund, although he has not featured for his new club after FIFA refused to sanction his transfer after finding Galatasaray failed to complete the necessary documentation before the close of the transfer window.

Having been unregistered for the first-half of the 2015-16 campaign; it is understood that Grosskreutz has become disillusioned with the situation and is already seeking a move away from the Turk Telekom Arena in the New Year.

Grosskreutz; who has six international caps for Germany, knows Liverpool manager Klopp well given his time spent at Bundesliga side Dortmund, although Galatasaray are still likely to demand around £1.8m for the World Cup winner’s services next month.
