Liverpool could sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner for just £25million, according to reports.

The 23-year-old is one of the most prolific players in European football having netted 88 goals for his current club since joining in 2016.

This term, the Germany international has scored 27 times in just 33 matches and has been linked with a move away from Leipzig.

According to Sport 1, a clause in Werner’s contract means that he could be available for just an initial £25million.

Werner scored the only goal as Leipzig won 1-0 at Tottenham in the Champions League.

It’s claimed that fee could be followed with numerous bonuses which would see the overall outlay increase as time goes on.

Jurgen Klopp has a lethal front-three in Roberto Firmino, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, but could look to add competition this summer.

And in a recent interview with Viasport, Werner admitted that he is flattered to have been linked with a move to Anfield.

Liverpool are the best team in the world at the moment,” said the ex-Stuttgart star.

It makes me very proud to be associated with it. It’s great, but I know that Liverpool have a lot of good players and I have to improve.

Werner is expected to lead the line for Germany at this summer’s European Championship having scored 11 times in 29 caps.
