Sunday’s thriller between Chelsea and Liverpool at Stamford Bridge highlighted the importance of a number of players to both sets of supporters inside Stamford Bridge, although it could be the last time some of them are available for a while.

From this week, players begin to travel to Cameroon to partake in the rescheduled 2021 African Cup of Nations, and a number of Blues and Reds stars will be involved.

Both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane scored at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, but Liverpool will be without the pair for up to a month, while Edouard Mendy made a number of important saves but will also be absent from domestic action until February.

Now, with both Mane and Salah unavailable, Jurgen Klopp is reportedly eyeing a shock move for an unlikely Premier League star.

Cantwell is yet to register a goal or assist so far this season

As per FourFourTwo, the Reds are weighing up a surprise move for Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell, despite the winger’s omission from the Canaries’ squad for much of this season.

The report states that the 23-year-old, who has started just five league games all season, could be a cut-price option for the frugal Reds.

The England under-21 international impressed during Norwich’s last top flight campaign two seasons ago and was equally as pivotal in their promotion from the Championship last term, but has struggled to regain his form this season.

Despite Cantwell’s standout performances over the last two seasons, the Englishman fell out of favour under former manager Daniel Farke and has done little to endear himself to new boss Dean Smith either.

With that in mind, Norwich are reportedly open to the prospect of letting the player go.
