Premier League leaders Liverpool face high-flying Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds defeated the Seagulls 3-2 in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, and Arne Slot will be hoping that his side can get the better of their opponents once again and maintain their advantage at the top of the table.

Fabian Hurzeler’s side will undoubtedly provide a stern test for the Reds, though, having scored twice against Arne Slot’s side in midweek.

Off the pitch, Liverpool appear to be plotting a shock move for a Chelsea youngster.

As per Football Insider, the Merseyside outfit are one of a number of clubs showing interest in Chelsea full-back Josh Acheampong.

The 18-year-old is highly rated at Stamford Bridge but the report suggests that he is reluctant to sign an extension to his current contract, which expires in 2026.

A number of clubs, including Liverpool, have therefore shown interest in the teenager, who has played once for Enzo Maresca’s side so far this term.

The right-back is said to have concerns about the lack of a clear pathway to regular game time at Stamford Bridge, with Malo Gusto and Reece James ahead of him in the pecking order of right-backs.

It has been rumoured that the teenager has been told that he will not play for either the first team or the club’s development squad until he signs an extension to his current deal, which leaves both the player and the club at something of an impasse.

Acheampong made his debut for the Blues during a 2-0 Premier League win over Tottenham Hotspur in May.
