Premier League leaders Liverpool will hope to maintain their lead at the top of the table when they welcome Aston Villa to Anfield on Saturday evening.

Arne Slot’s side have started the new season in fine form, winning 14 of their 16 games across all competitions including eight of ten league games.

That leaves the Reds two points clear of reigning champions Manchester City at the top of the table, and Slot will hope to see his side maintain their advance by beating the Villains on Saturday.

Off the pitch, it appears that Liverpool may have been handed a boost in their pursuit of a La Liga star.

According to Football Insider, the Merseyside club could look to sign Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni next summer, with the player considering a future away from the Spanish capital.

The report claims that Tchouameni, 24, is considering a move away from Real at the end of the current season, having fallen somewhat out of favour with those in charge of the club.

Tchouameni could look for a move away from Real next summer

Tchouameni joined the Spanish giants from French side Monaco two years ago and has since played more than 100 times for Los Blancos, but the central midfielder remains out of favour despite the recent retirement of Toni Kroos.

It is claimed that the France international is a long-term target for Liverpool, and the report also suggests that the Reds will struggle to lure the player away from Madrid during the January transfer window.

They may have more luck next summer, though, with the Frenchman seriously considering a move away from the club.

Despite starting in 13 of his 14 appearances so far this term, Tchouameni has played at centre-back on more than one occasion.

He is contracted to Real until the end of the 2027/28 season, but the report suggests that a move next summer is a genuine possibility.
