Liverpool denied deadline day signing of 19-year-old League One gem

Liverpool reportedly failed to sign League One starlet James Maddison on deadline day, according to the Mirror.

The Premier League side, who drew 0-0 against West Ham United in the FA Cup on Saturday, made a last-ditch move for the highly-rated Coventry City forward earlier today.

The 19-year-old, who came through the Sky Blues’ youth academy, has scored two league goals in 11 appearances for Tony Mowbray’s side this season.

The Reds were hoping to agree a deal that would see him signed now and loaned back to the Midlands club for the remainder of the campaign.
