Liverpool are reportedly considering a mega money move for Arsenal and Chelsea target Gonzalo Higuain.
The Premier League giants, who sacked manager Brendan Rodgers on Sunday following the Reds’ 1-1 Merseyside derby draw at Everton, are keen on bringing in the Napoli striker during the January transfer window.
The 27-year-old, who has 51 international caps for Argentina, has already scored six goals in nine appearances in all competitions for the Serie A outfit this season.
Higuain has been heavily linked with a move to the English top-flight ever since leaving Real Madrid back in 2013, with former boss Rodgers understood to have been preparing a £33m bid for the Argentine for the New Year.
But with ex-Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp and former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti favourites to land the job at Anfield later this week, it will be up to the new man in charge on whether Liverpool reignite their interest in Higuain’s services in January.
