Liverpool eye January move for Ghana’s defensive midfielder

Liverpool are reportedly considering a surprise swoop for Ghana international Daniel Amartey.

The Premier League side, who defeated former league leaders Leicester City on Boxing Day, have been monitoring the FC Copenhagen defensive midfielder’s situation at the club ahead of next month’s transfer window.

The 21-year-old, who has seven international caps for his country, has made 20 appearances in all competitions for the Danish top-flight outfit so far this season.

Amartey, who can operate at both centre-half and as a central midfielder, is thought to be wanted by Reds boss Jurgen Klopp as cover for the likes of Martin Skrtel, Dejan Lovren and Mamadou Sakho.
