Jurgen Klopp will take charge of his penultimate game in charge of Liverpool when they face Aston Villa on Monday evening.

The German is set to depart Anfield this summer after nine years in charge of the club, and he will aim to finish the season strongly despite missing out on the Premier League title.

Klopp is set to be replaced by current Feyenoord boss Arne Slot, and those in charge of the club’s recruitment appear to already be working hard ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Now, the Merseyside club have been linked with a sensational move for a former Everton player.

According to The Daily Star, Liverpool are considering a shock move for Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon.

Gordon has been in fine form for Newcastle this season

The Englishman joined the Magpies from Everton in January last year, and has been in fine form since making the move north.

He has played 63 times for Newcastle across all competitions, scoring 12 goals and registering 11 assists.

Newcastle paid a fee of £45 million to sign Gordon last year and, although they will be extremely reluctant to sell the Englishman, the club are expected to have to sell at least one key player this summer.

The likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak have been linked with a move away from St. James’ Park, but the report claims that Gordon is also set to attract significant interest from elsewhere.

The report also claims that Liverpool would have to make an offer in the region of £100 million for Newcastle to consider selling Gordon, 23.

Gordon’s impressive form this season, scoring ten goals and providing ten assists in 34 league games, earned him a first senior England cap in March this year.

The winger is currently contracted to the Magpies until the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
