Liverpool will reportedly make a move for Italy international star Lorenzo Insigne, if the club lose Philippe Coutinho this summer, according to the Mirror.

The Premier League side, who drew 3-3 at Vicarage Road in their 2017-18 league opener against Watford on Saturday, have been linked with the Napoli forward after midfielder Coutinho issued The Reds an official transfer request on Friday, amid FC Barcelona’s pursuit of the player.

Insigne, 26, who has 16 international caps for the Azzurri, scored 20 goals and provided 12 assists in 49 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A outfit last season.

The left winger, who joined Napoli back in 2011 from Foggia, has netted 54 times in 255 games overall for the Italian outfit.

The report suggests Insigne is Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp’s preferred target to replace Brazilian Coutinho, should he force through a move to Barcelona before the close of this month’s transfer window.

The Napoli ace is valued at around £60m.
