Premier League champions Liverpool will hope to end a run of three successive defeats across all competitions when they face Manchester United on Sunday.

Arne Slot’s side won each of their first five Premier League matches of the new season, but have since been beaten by Crystal Palace and Chelsea in the competition, either side of a 1-0 loss against Turkish outfit Galatasaray in the Champions League.

The Reds spent unprecedented amounts on new signings over the summer, and Slot will therefore be desperate to see his side return to winning ways when they face the Red Devils after the international break.

Away from the action, it has emerged that Liverpool are eyeing an audacious move for a Ligue 1 defender.

As per Fichajes via GiveMeSport, the Premier League holders are considering a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Willian Pacho as a possible alternative to Marc Guehi.

Liverpool came close to signing Guehi from Crystal Palace over the summer, with a deal looking likely to happen on deadline day until the Eagles pulled out of the proposed agreement.

Guehi’s current contract with Palace is set to expire at the end of the season, and the England international could then be available as a free agent.

Despite this, the report suggests that the Reds have identified PSG’s Pacho, 23, as a possible target to bolster Slot’s defensive options.

Pacho joined PSG from German side Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023 and has since made 64 appearances for the French side across all competitions.

He helped Luis Enrique’s side to win the Ligue 1 title, Champions League and French Cup last season, but the report suggests that Liverpool could make a move to sign the player next summer.

It is claimed that the Reds believe an offer in the region of £56.5 million could be enough to persuade the Ligue 1 champions to part ways with the player, who is under contract until 2029.
