Premier League leaders Liverpool host Chelsea when the Premier League returns next weekend.

The Reds currently sit a a point clear of Manchester City and Arsenal after seven games, and manager Arne Slot will be pleased with the start his side have made.

There are still issues that remain unresolved at Anfield, though, including the uncertain futures of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

All three players are currently in the final year of their respective contracts, and it appears that Liverpool are planning for life without Salah.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes via GiveMeSport, the Merseyside club are considering a move for West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus.

The report claims that those in charge of the Reds’ recruitment have identified the Ghanaian as a potential long-term replacement for Salah.

Kudus is a target for Premier League leaders Liverpool

Kudus, 24, joined the Hammers from Dutch side Ajax last summer and has since played 54 times for the East London side, scoring 15 goals and providing seven assists.

It is claimed that Liverpool have been impressed with the Ghana international and could move for him next summer.

Kudus is said to have attracted interest from several clubs across Europe, and the report also suggests that Arsenal had previously considered a move for him earlier this summer.

The forward’s versatility could appeal to the Reds, with Kudus able to operate on either flank.

Liverpool’s interest in the attacker is said to date back to April, when the Hammers valued Kudus at £100 million.

It remains to be seen whether or not their valuation of the player has increased, but Liverpool could look to sign the Ghanaian next summer as they are hoping to find a successor to talisman Salah sooner rather than later.
