Liverpool supporters have shared their joy on social media at the news Harvey Elliott has returned to training.

The midfielder broke into Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI at the start of the season but fractured his ankle in the match at Leeds United on September 13 following a tackle from Pascal Struijk.

Elliott, 18, was stretchered off the pitch with many predicting he would miss a large majority of this campaign.

However, just two months after the incident, the England Under-21 international has returned to the training pitches following successful surgery.

Fans shared their delight by responding to a gallery posted on the club’s official Twitter account.

One supporter replies: “I have never scrolled through pics of a player running… until today. PLEASE get back quickly!!”.

Meanwhile, another adds “Great to see him making progress.”

Although the teenage talent is ahead of schedule on his road to recovery, it’s still not yet known when he would be available to return to first-team action.

Klopp showed real faith in the ex-Fulham starlet at the start of the season after he returned from a successful loan spell at Blackburn Rovers last term.

Elliott started in three of the Reds’ first four Premier League matches and came on as a substitute in the other.
