Liverpool could move top of the Premier League table if they beat rivals Manchester City at The Etihad on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds currently sit second in the top flight table, just a single point behind leaders and reigning champions City.

Although still early on in the campaign, the match could prove crucial in deciding who wins the title this season.

Off the pitch, though, Liverpool appear unlikely to make a move to sign a former Premier League star.

Reports from Spain had suggested that the Merseyside outfit could consider a sensational swap deal involving Luis Diaz and Barcelona winger Raphinha, but the club currently have no intention of doing so according to Football Insider.

The report claims that the proposed swap deal, which would see Diaz join the La Liga side and former Leeds United man Raphinha arrive on Merseyside, is not being considered by the club despite reports.

Liverpool have no plans to let Diaz leave Anfield

Diaz, 26, joined Liverpool from Porto in January last year and has since made 61 appearances for the Merseyside outfit across all competitions, scoring 15 goals and providing nine assists.

Despite Diaz having impressed of late, the report claims that the Reds have no intention of allowing the player to leave the club regardless of potential bids.

The player’s father recently revealed, however, that Diaz is an admirer of the Spanish giants and ‘dreams’ of playing for the club in the future.

Raphinha, meanwhile, departed Elland Road to join Barcelona last summer, having played a key role in helping Leeds to avoid relegation during the 2021/22 campaign.

In total, he scored 17 goals and provided 12 assists in 67 matches for the Whites across all competitions.

Since arriving in Catalonia, the Brazilian has scored 12 goals and provided 15 assists in 61 games for the Spanish side.
