Liverpool will look to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they face Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday.

The Reds travel to the south coast a week on from their controversial 2-1 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur last Saturday.

The Merseyside outfit have received an official apology from the PGMOL after VAR failed to intervene and award a goal to Luis Diaz after the Colombian had been wrongly ruled offside.

On Thursday, Liverpool returned to winning ways by beating Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise 2-0 in the Europa League group stages, courtesy of goals from Ryan Gravenberch and Diogo Jota.

In the meantime, Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a move for a Portuguese star in the January transfer window.

As per Football Insider, the Reds could make a move for Sporting CP star Goncalo Inacio during the upcoming window if they lose any more important players to injury.

Inacio remains a target for both Liverpool and Manchester United

The report claims that rivals Manchester United are also among a number of teams to have shown an interest in the 22-year-old.

Inacio – primarily a left-sided centre-back – graduated through Sporting’s youth system and has now made a total of 131 senior appearances for the club across all competitions.

So far this season the Portuguese has played every minute of each of Sporting’s nine games, but his impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed.

Liverpool were hoping to sign a left-footed central defender over the summer but failed to land any of their targets, leaving Klopp relatively short of options at centre-back.

Ibrahima Konate has struggled with injuries over the past couple of seasons, while injuries to Trent Alexander-Arnold have also forced Joe Gomez out to right-back.

In August, Inacio signed a new deal with his current club that is set to run until 2027, however it does also include a release clause that is believed to stand at £52 million.
