The Premier League returns on Saturday when Liverpool face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The Reds continued their strong start to the Champions League group phase in midweek, beating Italian top flight side Bologna 2-0 at Anfield.

Arne Slot has lost just one of his opening nine matches in charge of the Reds since succeeding Jurgen Clop over the summer, and the Dutchman will be confident that his side can get the better of the Eagles on Saturday.

Forward Mohamed Salah is set to make his 270th Premier League appearance against Palace on Saturday, although the Egyptian’s future at Anfield still remains uncertain.

His current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and it appears that Liverpool are planning ahead for Salah’s potential exit.

According to German outlet BILD via The Sun, the Merseyside outfit are keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi.

Adeyemi has been capped four times by Germany at senior level

The report suggests that Liverpool have scouted the 22-year-old this season and have now identified him as a potential long-term successor to Salah.

Adeyemi netted a stunning first-half hat-trick during Dortmund’s 7-1 victory over Scottish champions Celtic on Tuesday, taking his tally for the season to five goals in eight games.

The Germany international joined Dortmund from Austrian side RB Salzburg in the summer of 2022 and he has since scored 19 times in 74 games for the Bundesliga outfit across all competitions.

Adeyemi’s contract runs until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, but the report suggests that he could be available for a fee of around £42.6 million.

The German is capable of playing in Salah’s typical role on the right flank, but he can also operate on the left and even centrally.

That could make him a suitable replacement for Salah if he does depart, although he has previously insisted that he is happy in Germany.
