Liverpool are keeping tabs on Atalanta forward Franck Kessie, but it’s Italian giants Juventus who currently lead the way in the race for his signature, according to Calciomercato.
The Reds have seen the midfielder in action on a couple of occasions this season, with manager Jurgen Klopp clearly believing that he has what it takes to command the Liverpool midfield for years to come.
Kessie shot to prominence in the opening few weeks of the campaign by netting four times in Atalanta’s first three Serie A games, all this from the defensive midfield role.
Although it went quiet on the scoring front for a time, the 19-year-old scored his fifth goal of the season against Roma last weekend, with his 90th minute penalty enough to secure a 2-1 win for Atalanta – a result which moved them up to fifth in the table ahead of the likes of Napoli and Torino.
However, it’s been his overall performances which have caught the eye of many European clubs, with Premier League giants Manchester United, Chelsea, and Manchester City all thought to be showing an interest.
Nevertheless, it looks like Liverpool and the aforementioned three could miss out on Kessie, with it reported that Juventus are heading the race for the talented youngster.
Although it’s far from a done deal, the Ivorian international, who has already played ten times for his country at senior level, may feel more comfortable remaining in Italy should he seek a move, yet the allure of the Premier League may also be too strong to turn down.
