Wales kicked their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign off with a valuable draw against Croatia on Saturday.

Rob Page’s side trailed for much of the match before Nathan Broadhead’s injury-time tap-in drew them level.

Prior to the goal, Wales had failed to register a single shot on target, with the Croatian defence standing firm.

Centre-back Josko Gvardiol looked impressive, and the RB Leipzig star is set to be the subject of intense interest this summer.

Now, it appears that Liverpool are in a strong position to sign the defender.

According to Football Insider, The Reds are well-placed to land the Croat when the transfer window opens this summer.

The report claims that Jurgen Klopp’s side are in the running to land the 21-year-old this summer, with clubs including Manchester United, Manchester City and Real Madrid also showing an interest.

Gvardiol looks to be in line for a big move this summer

Gvardiol has been in fine form for Leipzig over the past 18 months, establishing himself as one of the best central defenders in the German top flight.

He also impressed for his nation at the World Cup in Qatar, scoring for Croatia as they defeated Morocco in the third-place play-off.

The young defender is contracted to the Bundesliga side until 2027, having signed a new deal towards the end of last year.

Since joining Leipzig from Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb in 2021, Gvardiol has made 78 appearances for his current side.

The defender has made 32 appearances this season across all competitions and his form had helped propel Leipzig into the race for the Bundesliga title, although their form has dipped slightly of late.

The report suggests that Klopp will look to bolster his defensive options this summer, with The Reds reportedly prepared to allow Joel Matip to leave if a bid in the region of £10-15 million is made for the Cameroon international.
