Liverpool have reportedly held talks about signing former England Under-21 international Jack Grealish, according to the Mirror.

The Premier League side, who finished fourth in the English top-flight division last term, have been linked with snapping up the highly rated Aston Villa midfielder this summer.

The 22-year-old, who featured seven times for England’s Under-21 side, scored three goals and provided six assists in 31 appearances in all competitions for the Championship outfit last season, who lost to Fulham in the play-off final at Wembley Stadium.

Grealish, who joined The Villans when he was just six-years-old, has netted nine times in 110 first-team outings for the club overall.

The report claims The Reds have held talks with Villa about signing the attacking midfielder, though fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur remain favourites to land the Championship star this summer.

However, with Villa looking to pocket around £20m for Grealish’s services, the club are hoping Liverpool’s interest could spark a bidding war ahead of the 2018-19 campaign, especially with Spurs only willing to offer £15m for the player’s signature.

Grealish is contracted at Villa Park until June 2020.

Liverpool have already signed midfielders Fabinho (AS Monaco) and Naby Keita (RB Leipzig) this summer transfer window.
