The transfer window is now in full swing and Premier League clubs are busy looking for potential new singings.

All 20 top flight sides will likely be looking to bolster their respective squads this summer, including Liverpool under new manager Arne Slot.

The Dutchman left Feyenoord to take over at Anfield following the departure of Jurgen Klopp at the end of last season, and he will be keen to turn the Reds back into title challengers next term.

Now, it appears that Liverpool are hoping to hijack a defender’s proposed move to Real Madrid.

According to Football Insider, the Merseyside outfit are in talks with the representatives of Lille centre-back Leny Yoro.

Yoro has attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs

The 18-year-old defender is said to have informed his agent that he wishes to join Real Madrid, but the report claims that Liverpool remain in contact and could move for the teenager if negotiations with the Spanish side collapse.

Yoro is a product of Lille’s youth academy and, despite his age, has already played 60 times for the club at senior level across all competitions.

Last season, the teenage defender made 44 appearances for the club and established himself as a regular starter.

He has also represented France at every age group level, and could be in line for a senior call-up in the coming months.

Yoro’s current contract with the Ligue 1 side is set to run until next summer, which means he could sign a pre-contract agreement with any club outside of France in January and leave his current side for free at the end of next season.

As well as Liverpool and Real Madrid, Manchester United have also identified Yoro as a potential transfer target, with the report claiming that scouts at Old Trafford view the youngster as a ‘generational talent’.
