Liverpool’s quest for a seventh Champions League continues on Wednesday as they face French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

The Reds have the opportunity to win their first silverware of the season when they face Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final later this month, and they also boast an impressive 13-point lead at the top of the Premier League table with just ten matches remaining.

Arne Slot will be pleased with his side’s progress so far this season, but the Dutchman will also be desperate to see his side reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

PSG stand in their way, however, with Wednesday’s first leg taking place in the French capital before the return leg at Anfield next week.

In the meantime, it has emerged that the league leaders are showing interest in one of the stars of the Premier League season so far.

According to Sky Sports Switzerland via GiveMeSport, the Merseyside outfit are keeping tabs on Newcastle star Alexander Isak.

The Swede has been in scintillating form this season, netting 19 times in the Premier League, and his impressive performances have alerted a number of clubs.

Isak has attracted ‘concrete’ interest from Liverpool

It is claimed that Liverpool have concrete interest in the 25-year-old and are plotting a summer move for the striker.

Newcastle have put a price tag of £150 million on the forward, who joined from Spanish side Real Sociedad in 2022 and has since scored 57 goals in 98 games.

If Liverpool were to pay that amount to sign the Sweden international, it would make him the most expensive signing in the club’s history.

Liverpool have been very quiet during the past two transfer windows but the report claims that the Merseyside club are prepared to spend big to sign Isak this summer, with those in charge hoping it may help to appease supporters who could be forced to deal with Mohamed Salah’s potential departure.

Isak is contracted to the Magpies until the end of the 2027/28 campaign.
