Premier League champions Liverpool have been busy so far this summer, adding three new signings to Arne Slot’s squad.

The Reds cruised to the top flight title last term and have since signed Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz Milos Kerkez.

The Merseyside outfit will likely be favourites to win the league once again this term having bolstered Slot’s squad, but it appears that they may not yet be finished in the transfer market.

According to Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha via The Independent, Liverpool are one of several clubs interested in Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres.

The Swede joined Sporting from Championship side Coventry City in 2023 and has since established himself as one of the most prolific forwards in Europe.

In total the 27-year-old has scored 97 goals in 102 games for the club across all competitions, as well as providing 28 assists.

It is claimed that the Premier League champions have enquired about the striker’s situation, with the Portuguese champions demanding a fee of around £69 million to let him leave.

Manchester United are also said to be interested in the Sweden international, who is under contract until the end of the 2027/28 season.

Premier League rivals Arsenal are currently said to be leading the race to land the player and are the only side to have tabled an actual offer for his services.

Gyokeres himself is also said to prefer a move to The Emirates over Old Trafford, although it remains to be seen whether or not Liverpool’s potential interest could change his stance.

Current Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez has been heavily linked with a move to Italian champions Napoli, meaning Slot and those in charge of the Merseyside club may have to source a replacement for the Uruguayan.
