Liverpool face French champions Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie on Wednesday night.

Arne Slot’s side didn’t feature in this weekend’s FA Cup fourth round ties as they were knocked out by Plymouth Argyle in the previous round, meaning the Reds benefit from an extended break before their trip to the French capital.

The Merseyside giants are in contention to win three trophies this season, as they boast a 13-point lead over Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table and are also in the Carabao Cup final where they face Newcastle United.

Slot’s side are also one of the favourites to go on to lift the Champions League trophy in the final in Munich in May.

Away from the Reds’ pursuit of silverware, it has emerged that they are interested in a defender from one of their fiercest rivals.

According to Graeme Bailey via RousingTheKop, Liverpool are interested in Chelsea defender Levi Colwill.

Colwill has emerged as a target for rivals Liverpool

The report claims that the Reds have identified the England international as a potential target as they look to bolster their their backline this summer.

It is also claimed that Liverpool are keeping tabs on Bournemouth central defender Dean Hujsen, as well as Club Brugge’s Joel Ordonez and Sporting CP’s Goncalo Inacio.

Liverpool have previously been linked with a move for Colwill, and the report claims that the Premier League leaders could reignite their interest in the 22-year-old and attempt to sign him this summer.

Colwill is a product of the Blues’ youth academy and has now played more than 50 times for the West London club at senior level.

The centre-back, who had previously impressed on loan at both Huddersfield Town and Brighton and Hove Albion, is contracted to Chelsea until the end of the 2028/29 season.
