Liverpool could be gearing up for a busy summer transfer window of incomings and outgoings as Jurgen Klopp looks to rebuild his squad after a disappointing season last term.

The Reds miraculously finished fourth and qualified for next season’s Champions League despite sitting 10 points adrift with nine games to go, but a remarkable end of term run ensured they will be playing at Europe’s top table next season.

Klopp is already on the lookout for exciting talent to bolster his squad, and it appears that the club have already begun talks to sign one of the most prolific goal scorers in Europe last campaign.

According to Sky Sports Germany, the Reds have entered negotiations with Eredivisie side PSV over Donyell Malen.

Malen was let go by Arsenal in 2017 having never made a senior appearance

The Dutch striker, who left Arsenal in 2017, scored 27 goals in all competitions last season, and is currently on international duty with the Netherlands at Euro 2020.

The report suggests that the player could be available for around £34 million.

The futures of Sadio Mane and Momahed Salah are currently up in the air, with both players claimed to be unhappy at the club’s dismal campaign and considering the possibility of a new challenge.

Malen provided an excellent assist for new Barcelona forward Memphis Depay during the Netherlands’ 3-0 victory over North Macedonia on Monday evening, and impressed during his first start of the tournament.

Liverpool’s interest in the player had been widely reported, however the news of talks beginning is a step in the right direction for Liverpool fans, who will be keen to see the squad bolstered after an injury-hit season last year.
