Liverpool have reportedly had a loan offer rejected in their bid to sign Norway prodigy Martin Odegaard this month, according to the Daily Star.

The Premier League side, who salvaged a last-gasp 3-3 draw against Arsenal on Wednesday night, are understood to have seen their loan bid rejected by Real Madrid for their highly-rated midfielder.

The 17-year-old, who already has eight senior international caps for his country, has provided two assists in 17 league games for the La Liga giants’ development team Castilla this season.

Odegaard, who arrived at the Bernabeu a year ago from Stromsgodset in a deal that could rise up to €8.5m, has made just one first-team appearance for the club back in May against Getafe.

The Norweigan starlet is reportedly on a whopping £80,000-a-week at Madrid.
