Liverpool have reportedly tabled a £10.8m bid to sign Germany international goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, according to Don Balon.

The Premier League side, who lost 1-0 at home to Manchester United on Sunday, are hopeful of beating the Red Devils to the signature of the FC Barcelona shot stopper during the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old, who has four international caps for his country, has kept three clean sheets in just 14 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga giants this season.

Ter Stegen, who arrived at the Nou Camp from Borussia Monchengladbach for a reported £9.7m back in May 2014, has played second fiddle behind first-choice ‘keeper Claudio Bravo under Barca manager Luis Enrique this term.

But Barcelona value the German at around £23m, more than double what Liverpool have reportedly offered.

However the Spanish reports linking Reds manager Jurgen Klopp with Ter Stegen come as a surprise after Liverpool’s Simon Mignolet signed a new bumper five-year deal at the club earlier this week.
